North Clay volleyball wins three-of-four matches

CLINTON -- North Clay's volleyball teams scored a pair of wins over South Vermillion on Wednesday evening.

The eighth-grade Knights took a 10-25, 25-14, 15-12 victory paced by 0 service points and two aces from Courtney Maccarone and a three-point, five-kill, one ace effort from Brylie Riddell.

Chandler Pell added in five points for the Knights and Nicole Linton added three points and an ace.

The seventh-grade scored a 25-21, 25-7 decision over the Wildcats as Lindsey Potter had 12 points with an ace to top the team.

Emily Sands contributed seven points from the service line and Lorrie La-Tourette had six points with two aces and a kill. Shelby Timberman had three points with Katie Girton and Jami Warner each adding two points. Jade Mills and Leslie Ringo each had one service point.

On Tuesday evening, the teams split against Otter Creek with the seventh-grade winning 25-14, 25-13.

Ringo led the way with five points and an ace and both Warner and Potter added four points with an ace. LaTourette had three points with a kill and both Emilee Edington and Mills had three points. Shelbi Morris, Sands and Pollard each had two points. Pollard also had an assist. Timberman contributed one point.

In the eighth-grade game, the Knights dropped a 21-25, 21-25 decision to the Otters.

North Clay rallied from an early deficit in the first game, but couldn't finish off the game despite three points from Carrie Duregger and two each from Kasey Merten and Taylor Dickison.

In game two, the Knights led the game early, 12-6, but couldn't maintain the momentum despite five points from Pell and three from Linton. Riddell added two points, two aces and a kill and Maccarone had an ace.

North Clay is back in action on Monday versus Chauncey Rose at 6 p.m.
