She was born Dec. 15, 1919, in Brazil, to George and Jessie (Ray) Ruddell.
She attended Staunton High School and was a former resident of Meridian Towers and had been a resident at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility since 2004.
Dorothy enjoyed flowers, mushroom hunting, music, dancing especially the jitterbug, and family gatherings. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was baptized in 1976 at Berea Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Delmar Clyde Reffett in December 1976, sister, Lucille Thomas, two son-in-laws, Butch Butts and George Bullock.
She is survived by Judy Pierce and husband Bob, Brazil, Donna Harpold and husband Ansil, Clinton, son, Milton Reffett and companion Sue Commons, Brazil, Toni Bullock, Brazil, grandchildren, Bobby Pierce, Jeff and Lori Pierce, Chris and Tonya Pierce, Mindy Maness, Joshua Harpold, Michael Reffett, Lisa and Jimmy Rogers, Stacey and Kris Joseph, Phillip and Allison Butts, George Bullock, Chevy and Jennifer Butts, 24 great-grandchildren, and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at 2 p.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel with her son-in-law, Ansil Harpold officiating. Burial will follow in Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 from 4-8 p.m., and prior to services on Tuesday.
