Sheldon D. Hurley, 73, Greencastle, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008.
Mr. Hurley was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Kokomo, the son of Homer A. and Beulah W. Weaver Hurley.
Sheldon attended school in Wallace and graduated in 1954 from Greencastle High School.
Mr. Hurley served as a minister of the Greencastle Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 51 years. He was also a farmer and was active in new construction and remodeling of Kingdom Halls and participated in international disaster relief work.
His father preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Jane Hurley, mother Beulah Hurley, daughter Alisa Calhoun and husband William, son Bret Hurley and wife Beth, brother Ronald Hurley and wife Nancy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large family of friends.
A memorial service will take place Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at 6 p.m., at the Greencastle Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 104 N. 10th St., Greencastle, with Brother Mike Bowman of Terre Haute officiating.
Visitation will be at 4 p.m. until time of services Sunday at Kingdom Hall.
Private family burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Greencastle, next to the family farm.
Arrangements are being handled by Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle.
