The Northview boys' varsity tennis team celebrated Senior Night in a big way, dominating South Vermillion during its 5-0 victory at home Monday.

A relative lack of drama could describe the Knights' victory as none of the matches reached a tie-breaking set.

The only potential drama came in Carson Kleiber's 6-1, 6-4 win over Jordan Lowry in the No. 2 singles match. Kleiber fell behind 4-1 in the second set before catching fire to win the final five games of the set.

"Carson struggled for a little bit, but he found a way to pull out the win," Northview coach Mark Orr said.

In a bit of a twist for Senior Night, Austin Akers, who typically plays No. 1 singles, paired up with fellow senior Matt Nodley to hand Dalton Millikan and Matt Junker a pair of 6-0, 6-0 goose eggs in the No. 1 doubles match.

The third Knight's senior, Clint Reynolds, stepped up to the No. 1 singles level and handily defeated Spencer Durham 6-0, 6-2.

"Austin wanted to play with Matt for Senior Night and it worked out great," Orr said. "Clint also came up big playing No. 1 as well."

Caleb Mershon (No. 3 singles) and the combination of Caleb Andrews and Max Short (No. 2 doubles) also showed no signs of a struggle in their respective 6-1, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-2 victories over Vance Blake and Jordan Urbain/Nathan Lunsford.

"As a whole, the team is playing very well," Orr said. "We seem to improve every time out and I hope we can keep up this pace for sectionals."

The junior varsity team also found success Monday as Trent Sims, Jordan King and Joey Thomas/Sam Miller getting wins while Jake Short and Daniel Eaglin/Dylan Reynolds finished with hard-fought losses.

Northview (8-3) travels to Owen Valley Wednesday with play set to begin at 5 p.m.
