Officials are looking for one of two armed men who struggled with homeowners while attempting to burglarize a Brazil home early Thursday morning.
Around 12:13 a.m., two masked men, allegedly armed with a stun gun and a knife, knocked on the door of Jonathan Bohannan and Megan Slater's home, 403 West Jackson St., while they were watching television.
Thinking they recognized one of the voices, the two men were let inside the home. That is when a fight broke out. The stun gun, which is able to temporary incapacitate a person, was dropped during the struggle, but one of the suspects drew a knife.
Brazil City police Chief Dave Archer said that Bohannan received injuries all over his body from the stun gun and Slater received facial injuries during the struggle.
Both suspects were able to escape the homeowners and fled on foot with $250.
However, both suspects were unmasked during the struggle.
Bohannan and Slater were able to identify one suspect from a photo line-up shortly after the incident. Using that information, the Clay County Prosecutor's Office was able to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect.
BCPD officers located and took Kenneth E. Roberts, 27, Brazil, into custody at his girlfriend's home at 504 Edgewood Dr. around 1 p.m.
Roberts was taken to the Clay County Justice Center and booked on preliminary charges filed by Prosecutor Lee Reberger for five felonies -- including burglary, armed robbery, residential entry and criminal recklessness -- and two class A misdemeanor charges of battery resulting in bodily injury.
Roberts' bond is set at $50,000 with no 10 percent allowed.
The case against Roberts remains under review by the Clay County Prosecutor's Office.
Archer said that although the victims saw the other man's face, they did not know who the man was. Officers continue the search for the second unidentified suspect.
