Burglary suspect arrested

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Officials are looking for one of two armed men who struggled with homeowners while attempting to burglarize a Brazil home early Thursday morning.

Around 12:13 a.m., two masked men, allegedly armed with a stun gun and a knife, knocked on the door of Jonathan Bohannan and Megan Slater's home, 403 West Jackson St., while they were watching television.

Thinking they recognized one of the voices, the two men were let inside the home. That is when a fight broke out. The stun gun, which is able to temporary incapacitate a person, was dropped during the struggle, but one of the suspects drew a knife.

Brazil City police Chief Dave Archer said that Bohannan received injuries all over his body from the stun gun and Slater received facial injuries during the struggle.

Both suspects were able to escape the homeowners and fled on foot with $250.

However, both suspects were unmasked during the struggle.

Bohannan and Slater were able to identify one suspect from a photo line-up shortly after the incident. Using that information, the Clay County Prosecutor's Office was able to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect.

BCPD officers located and took Kenneth E. Roberts, 27, Brazil, into custody at his girlfriend's home at 504 Edgewood Dr. around 1 p.m.

Roberts was taken to the Clay County Justice Center and booked on preliminary charges filed by Prosecutor Lee Reberger for five felonies -- including burglary, armed robbery, residential entry and criminal recklessness -- and two class A misdemeanor charges of battery resulting in bodily injury.

Roberts' bond is set at $50,000 with no 10 percent allowed.

The case against Roberts remains under review by the Clay County Prosecutor's Office.

Archer said that although the victims saw the other man's face, they did not know who the man was. Officers continue the search for the second unidentified suspect.

To report information about this crime, or any other, contact the Brazil City Police Department at 446-2211.

Note: The male suspect is described as being clean shaved, approximately 6-feet-2-inches tall with a thin build and short brown hair.

To report information about the whereabouts of this suspect, contact the Brazil City Police Department at 446-2211.

Roberts was convicted of armed robbery several years ago when he robbed burger king. Lets hope the judges put him away for a long long time.

And Kenneth's home was the one with the pipe bomb on August 13th.

This Picture does not look right. If they were masked how could they recognize them in a line up. If the stun gun was dropped do they have fingerprints? How did they get away with $250 if they were able to get the stun gun away for them. More like vendetta against Mr. Roberts knowing he had a criminal background. What about the character of the accusers. Any body check them out? This is just the beginning of questions.

whosright, the questions you asked were already answered in the story... perhaps you should read it again. Why would these random people have a "vendetta" against him?

because they were friends

This woman has a black eye from this assault. Pretty sure whe wouldn't blame a person for doing this kind of thing unless she was 100% sure of it.

whosright you really are a pure idiot. As I said in the previous topic, READ before you post your stupid comments.

On topic, good job to the police and everyone involved who was able to get this guy off the street. Roberts is one of those people who will always live the life of crime, hopefully he can be locked up and taken off the street for a long time.

My question is. Where did the $250 come from? Megan and Johnathon are on welfare! Roberts has a job! Just because someone has a past record doesn't always mean it was them. People can change! Might want to check out Bohannan heard he was a big time drug dealer!
