Patty was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Clay County, one of the three daughter of Frank Bedwell Jr. and Esther Price Bedwell.
She graduated from Brazil High School and married her sweetheart, James F. Stearley, on Feb. 12, 1954.
Together, they owned and operated their family farm, where she was a dedicated farm wife. They raised chickens, hogs, cattle and best of all, they raised a family.
As an extra career, Patty established the Timlynn Candy Co., which she made in their home with her family.
She was a devoted member of the St. John's United Church of Christ. She served the church as an elder, deacon and was active with the Women's Guild.
She was a member of the Brazil Elks Lodge and the American Legion Post No. 2.
Later after her children were in school, Patty began working in the cafeteria at Jackson Township Elementary School and continued there for 29 years and also was the cafeteria manager for several years. Even after she retired, Patty continued volunteer work at Jackson Township School and at the Clay County Hospital.
Patty enjoyed making quilts for family and friends, painting and spending time with family and friends. Times with her sisters, her children and grandchildren were always special to Patty.
She was preceded in death by her husband James F. Stearley, in April 2004, father Frank Bedwell Jr., mother Esther Price Bedwell, and step-mother Ruth Bedwell.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Tim and Kim Stearley, daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Terry Lawson, sisters Janice Clark and husband Larry and Brenda Knight and husband Larry, brother-in-law Gerald Stearley and wife JoAnn, grandchildren Kaitlyn Lawson, Brock Lawson, Krisa Stearley and Trent Stearley, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at French Funeral Home, with Pastors Tony Alstott and Ted Schroy officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., and again Wednesday prior to services.
Pallbearers will include Brock Lawson, Trent Stearley, Yates Clark, Kip Clark, Marc Childs, Brad Youngblood, Brad Latham and Rick Stearley.
Memorial contributions should be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
