Daniels presented M.S.I. Construction, Inc., with a Half Century Award. Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and Secretary of Commerce Nathan Feltman joined Daniels in honoring all the Indiana companies for their commitment to the state.
The Governor's Century and Half Century Business Awards honor Indiana businesses that have remained in operation for 100 or 50 years or more and have also demonstrated a history of community service. More than 1,150 companies from across the state have been recognized during the 18-year history of the ceremony.
M.S.I. Construction, Inc., is a full-service general contractor that has evolved from Major Lumber Company, Inc., a family business started in 1957 by Irvin M. Major. In the 1950s and 1960s, Major Lumber Company began to specialize in large commercial and industrial buildings, including pre-engineered metal structures. In the 1970s, as the firm expanded into the design and build market, it changed its name to Major and Sons, Inc. General Contractors, to reflect its primary operations. As M.S.I. Construction, Inc., the company is a full-service general contractor and has built projects in Indiana, Illinois and Michigan.
Nominated by individuals or organizations within the same community, the Century and Half Century Awards honor Indiana companies and their contributions to the economic growth and prosperity of the state.
