CCRTA presents awards for volunteer hours

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Carolyn Tausig (right) presented awards to Jerry Penry (left) and Denzil Adams to honor them for their volunteer hours in community service.
Clay County Retired Teachers' Association held a Games Night on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Kennedy's Crossing Center. Indiana Retired Teachers' Association Executive Director, Andy Thomas and IRTA Area 4 Director, DeWayne Rater, were special guests at the event. They each spoke to the group about the benefits of being a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association.

Certificates of award were given to Denzil Adams and Jerry Penry for the number of volunteer hours they gave to the community during the 2007 calendar year.

Retired teachers give hundreds of hours in volunteer work annually. The total is then given to the state by Carolyn Tausig, Community Servic Chairperson for CCRTA. Retired teachers are urged to keep count of their hours and submit them to Mrs. Tausig.

Binto was enjoyed by those in attendance, and winners chose prizes. Gift certificates from Chaney's Diner
