Gleneva M. Parsley, 78, Clay City, died unexpectedly Oct. 27, 2008, in the emergency room of St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

She was born June 26, 1930, the daughter of Paul David "Bob" Zurcher and Waneta Snellenburger Zurcher. She attended Clay City High School.

She and her first husband Charles A. Hale owned and operated their family farm. He preceded her in death in 1974. Following his death, Gleneva worked for Don Putoff Chevrolet as a secretary and bookkeeper and later worked at the CO-OP as a bookkeeper also.

On Dec. 9, 1978, she married John "Phil" Parsley. He survives. She and Phil have enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and spending time with "Sunny" the golden retriever. Gleneva also enjoyed mushroom hunting, taking walks, working in the garden and flowers. She was a loving mom and mamaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Charles Hale, son-in-law, Marvin Harbaugh, brothers-in-law, Gene Dyar, Frank Russell, and Jack Fritz.

Survivors include her husband Phil Parsley, her two daughters, Ragenna Hale Harbaugh and Pamela Hale Kittle and husband Conrad, all of Clay City, stepdaughter Andrea "Andi" Fatch and husband Michael, stepson Matthew Parsley and wife Robin, Knox, Ind., grandchildren Shane A. Harbaugh and wife Lori, Sheila Harbaugh Rader and husband James, Tori L. Neiswinger and husband Mason, Travis C. Kittle and wife Pamela, and Taleigh A. Kittle and fiancÚ Nic Enlow, step-grandchildren, Caitlin Fatch, Emily Fatch, Beverly Parsley, Iris Parsley, Samantha Parsley, and Amanda Parsley, great-grandchildren, Hallie Ann Harbaugh, Karter D. Neiswinger, Keegan C. Neiswinger, Baby Kittle, and Baby Rader, step-great-grandchildren, Tyler Stevenson and Jayci Ssteuerwald, sisters Darlene Russell and friend Clarence "Jr." Hauser, Clay City and Donna Ringo and husband Jim, Terre Haute, sister-in-law, Nina Cox and husband Dale, Carmel, Ind., brother-in-law, Vernon Baughn, Clay City, several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Services will be held Friday, at 2 p.m., at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Zurcher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4-8 p.m., and again Friday prior to services.

Pallbearers will be Joe Simmons, Shane Harbaugh, Howard Brown, Mike Fatch, Travis Kittle and Conrad Kittle.
