Tri County Home Ec Club

The Tri County Home Ec Club met at the home of Claralou Thompson on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at 6 p.m.

We entertained five members from the Everwelcome club and four County Officers. Jeanne Steurwald read a devotions and opened our meeting with prayer prior to enjoying a weiner roast and variety of vegetable and salad dishes and fall desserts. We all exchanged stories about our favorite memory of Covered Bridge.

Everyone that brought a mask was in the masquerade contest. Halloween bingo was played with many receiving prizes. After the entertainment was over, the Tri County members had a short meeting. Jeanne gave the package lesson "Formaldehyde." Reminders were made to attend Indiana Homemakers Week on Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.

"Happy Birthday" was sang to Jeanne and Marie Adamson for October birthdays.

Our next meeting will be held at the home of Jean Rowings on Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.


The Jackson Township Better Homes Ext. Club met on Oct. 23 at the home of Norma Diel.

President Lauralee Hawkins called the meeting to order with Ann Stigler leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Homemakers Creed. For her devotional, Mary Alice Foulke read "Favorite Graces."

Ten members answered roll call by telling their most memorable Covered Bridge experience. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were read by Glenna Ogborn and approved.

Ann Carol Harden led in singing "Brother John" and "Happy Birthday" to Glenna Ogborn. Norma Diel's citizenship report covered President Martin Van Buren's wife Hannah.

Upcoming lessons were discussed. Bobbi Cayton reported that the Christmas meeting will be at her home on Dec. 5 at noon and to bring kitchen gadgets or money for Donna Black. Bobbi will make cookies for the 4-H Achievement Night on Nov. 21. Thirty-one scotty dogs were stuffed for the Christmas project.

Carmen Jackson presented the lesson, "Formaldehyde." Ann Carol Harden led in singing the closing prayer. Wilma Nicoson won the hostess gift. Mary Kent was also present.

The next meeting will be Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., at the home of Marilyn Bott.

Coins for Friendship will be collected.


The Tri County Community Club met at the Zion Church in Poland on Oct. 15 with the Lucy Strauch and Juanita Neese as hostesses.

A delicious meal was enjoyed by all, with Wilma Holsapple giving the blessing. The afternoon business meeting was opened by our president Rhonda Tincher. We all repeated the club creed and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The surprise package was won by Kay Altemiller. The door prizes were won by Roberta Nees and Diana Nees. Devotions were read by Kay Altemiller, "Jay Leno on President Bush," and "Jack-O-Lantern" by Rhonda Tincher.

Roll call was answered by 12 members, telling what they like about fall. The secretary's report was read by Gerry and approved, and the treasurer's report was read by Kay and approved.

Diana Nees gave the card report, with none being sent for the month. Juanita Neee gave the Hospital report and it was approved.

We had a bake/breakfast /lunch sale at the Clay County Court House on Nov. 3.

The meeting was closed with all saying the Lord's Prayer. Social hour was spent playing bingo with Gerry winning coverall.

Tri Kappa Christmas Boutique
