With Veterans Day quickly approaching, the community is preparing to honor those that have served the country. For more information call the respected location ahead of time.
Van Buren Elementary will be having its Veterans Day Program on Monday, Nov. 10 from 10-11 a.m.
It will also provide lunch to anyone who is serving or who has served in any branch of the United States Armed Forces as well as their spouses. All events will take place in the gymnasium.
Jackson Township Elementary Veterans Day Program will be Tuesday. Lunch will be served to veterans at noon and the student council will be doing a program in the gym following. The program revolves around the character education program and helps to encourage patriotism.
At Meridian Elementary, grades 3-5 will be walking to the courthouse and the Student Council will say the Pledge of Allegiance. Students in grades kindergarten-second-grade will have a coloring contests as well as other things in their classrooms.
The Veterans Program at Staunton Elementary will take place Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Sgt. F.C. Ronald G. Horrall of the 324th N.P. Detach, Terre Haute, the pledge and patriotic poetry.
Clay City Elementary will be having its program on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
North Clay Middle School will be having its veteran's program on Tuesday, with refreshments and registration from 1:45-2:30 and a guest speaker as well as recognition of veterans from 2:30-3:20 p.m.
Clay City High School will be having a guest speaker at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The community and area veterans are invited to attend.
Northview High School will be having a student-made DVD presentation that will be played in every classroom.

* First Christian Church will be having a "Freedom" service Sunday, at 9 a.m. The program is a cross-generational musical featuring adult, youth and children's choir while combining narrations with inspiring songs. * VFW Post No. 1127 invites local veterans and their family members to enjoy a free breakfast Tuesday from 6-10 a.m. at the post located at 103 East Jackson St.
* The Jackson Township Community Band, under the direction of Matther S. Huber, will perform its longest standing annual musical event on Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m., at the Clay County Courthouse.
