YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) -- Brandon Summers threw three touchdown passes, including two to Donald Jones, as Youngstown State stormed back to beat Indiana State 35-21 Saturday afternoon.
Indiana State (0-10, 0-6 Missouri Valley) looked to be on track for their first win when Ryan Roberts scored two short rushing TDs and Dony McCleskey returned a fumble 47 yards to make it 21-7 in the second quarter.
But the Sycamores wouldn't score again. Summers connected with Jones on a 10-yard pass and Dana Brown rushed for a five-yard score at the end of a nine-play drive for Youngstown State (3-8, 2-5) to tie it just before halftime.
Summers hit Jones on a 23-yarder in the third quarter to give the Penguins their first lead, and followed with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Dominique Barnes in the fourth.
Kamryn Keys gained 123 yards on 17 carries and Summers completed 14 of 23 passes for 142 yards for Youngstown State. Darrius Gates rushed for 110 yards for Indiana State.
