North Clay seventh-grade drops first game

The North Clay seventh-grade basketball team dropped its first game of the season against Owen Valley, 53-37.

The Patriots built their lead over the first three quarters, leading 32-15 at halftime before the Knights outscored Owen Valley in the final quarter 14-6 to narrow the final deficit.

North Clay got 13 points from Nate Newton and nine from Tanner Wilson followed by seven from Jim Mace, three from Daniel Kimball, two from Ian Heffner and Mark Underwood and a point from Jason Sampson.

The Owen Valley 'B' team also won, downing the Knights 31-21.

Both Colton Burgess and Kelly Hawkins had four points apiece and Connor Ringo added three. Kyle Moore, Zack Moore, Jeremy Maffioli and Underwood each had two. Both Tyler Rector and Austin Butts added a point.

North Clay (3-1 overall) travels to West Vigo on Nov. 19 for its next game.
