Maryellen Britton Quilliam, 89, Brazil, passed away at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Holly Hills Healthcare, where she was a resident since July 2008.

Born March 7, 1919, she was the daughter of David H. Britton and Estella Mae (Gibbs) Britton

Maryellen graduated from Brazil High School and St. Anthony's Hospital and Nursing Care. She married William Joseph (Joe) Quilliam on April 6, 1941.

She was a registered nurse for 45 years, working at Vigo and Clay County hospitals as well as the Columbia Records Infirmary. She was office nurse in Center Point for Dr. Charles E. Moon for 17 years until she retired. She was a member of the Brazil First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed reading, painting and crocheting and playing with her dog Keiffer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Quilliiam and brother Joseph David Britton.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Janelee and Robert Bartley Sr., Mooresville, son and daughter-in-law Daniel Joe and Marti Quilliam, Avon, grandchildren Robyn Bolin and husband John, Matthew Quilliam and wife Jamie, Randall Estes, Robert Quilliam, Cynthia Zook and husband Michael, and Daniel Quilliam II and wife Christina, and great-grandchidlren Shelby Zook, Skyler Zook, Nicholas Estes, Charles Quilliam, Daniel Quilliam III and Dillon Quilliam.

Services will be at French Funeral Home at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Society.
