Times Staff Report

The fall sports season was one to crow about for Northview High School fans.

The Knights scored conference championships in four different sports, girls' golf, volleyball, soccer and boys' tennis, which propels Northview into a good early position in the all-sports race amongst conference schools. Claiming top honors in three of the four contested girls' sports gives Northview an edge heading into the winter season.

The boys' meanwhile will be playing a little catch-up with winter offering up basketball and wrestling as scored sports for the Knights.

The cross country programs had a great deal of success with the girls reaching a second consecutive semi-state berth as a team while the boys got a state finals appearance by Conor Strain.

The girls' soccer team repeated as conference champions under coach Tony Alstott and coach Scott McDonald scored a WIC volleyball title for the Knights in another banner season with a youthful squad.

Coaches Mark Orr and Shawn Hughes kept the boys' tennis program on top with a WIC and the season's lone sectional championship. The title gave the Knights a berth in the stout Center Grove Regional where they fell to Indianapolis Roncalli. The host Trojans then went on to claim the state championship over Zionsville.

The girls' golf team reached the regional level as well following a third-place in the sectional played at Forest Park Golf Course.

The football team didn't fare as well as some of their Northview counterparts, but coach George Gettle laid the groundwork for future success with a young team that battled key injuries throughout the season.

Four different sports placed four players on the All-WIC teams this season, which speaks to the talent in the school.

Girls' cross country had C.J. Barnett, Allie True, Alyssa Conrad and Kylee Thacker on the All-WIC squad with Zac Niehaus, Trent Lancaster, Tony Fabbri and Jordan Keller being honored from the football squad. In volleyball, Brittaney Long, Ashlen Buck, Hannah Emmert and Hannah Hayes received all-WIC honors and Cayla Yockey, Tiffany Young, Jenny Woodcox and Rachel Alstott making the girls' soccer team.

In boys' soccer, Logan Lynch, Brandon Hathaway and Nick Hensler were all-conference with Austin Akers, Matt Nodley and Clint Reynolds making the tennis all-conference team. In boys' cross country, Strain and Ryan Lutes were honored with Savanah Pursell, Olivia Oehler and Mandy Thomlinson achieving the feat in golf.

Noble Knight Awards went to Thacker and Lutes in cross country, Ashley Clarke and Robert Plummer in soccer, Reynolds in tennis, Kade Baker in football, Oehler in golf and Ali Sharton in volleyball.
