She was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Cory, the daughter of George Edward and Audrey Seymour.
Verialdean graduated from Cory High School, Class of 1943. She married Ralph Musgrave on Sept. 22, 1943, he preceded her in death.
She worked as a cook for Porter Nursing Home, later known as Hardy Nursing Home, now called Cloverleaf Nursing Home in Knightsville. She later worked at the Fairbanks Home in Terre Haute. During her time working in Terre Haute she attended St. Mary of the Woods and received a Food Service Supervisor Certification and was a member of Hospital, Institution and Educational Food Service Society. She retired in 1986 and enjoyed her retirement years crocheting, making noodles from scratch and making wonderful pies.
She was affectionately known as Granny to her grandchildren and was active in their lives. She enjoyed attending all of their activities and spending time with them during the holidays. She was very patriotic and loved watching the fireworks during the Forest Park 4th of July activities. She also made daily visits to McDonalds to join her friends for lunch.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Audrey Seymour; husband Ralph; half-brothers, Roy Seymour, Ray Seymour; brother James Seymour and sisters Imogene Gonser, Helen Backfish.
Survivors include her son George Musgrave and wife Diania, Staunton; daughters Mary McCullough and husband David, Knightsville, and Helen Young and husband Samuel, Terre Haute; grandchildren Kelly Kirchner and husband Andy, Shelly Foote and husband Scott, Eric McCullough, Benjamin Young, Joshua Young, Sarah Young; great-grandchildren Austin Souders, Baylen Souders, Jacob Musgrave, Shelby Foote, Donivan McCullough; one great-grandson, Landin; sister Mary Carpenter as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at French Funeral Home, with Rev. Dick McShanog officiating. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m., and prior to services on Saturday. Post a heart of condolence at www.frenchfuneralhome.com
