She was born June 12, 1919, in Clay County, the daughter of John and Mary Kirchner Lawrence.
Virginia was a member of the Bridgeton United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Raccoon Township Home Ec Club, and a former 4-H leader. She loved cooking for her family and friends and working in the garden on the family farm.
She was a devoted wife and mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother and cherished her family and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Benell on Dec. 7, 1977, brothers Delno and Leonard Lawrence and sisters Daisy Jeffers and Myrtle Lowe.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Charles and Judi Benelll, daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Ralph Searing, all of rural Rosedale, grandchildren Rhonda Milner and husband Bruce, Terre Haute, Mark Benell and wife Jane, rural Rosedale, Brent Searing and wife Shelly, rural Rosedale, Cheryl Mager and husband Jim, Carbon, great-grandchildren Brittany and Ashton Searing, Kacie and Shelby Benell and Caitlyn, McKenzie and Marle' Mager, sister Mary Haney, Pueble, Colo., several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, with Pastor Perry Mager officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Run Cemetery, Bridgeton.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m., and prior to services Wednesday.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Bridgeton United Methodist Church, 8387 S. Bridgeton Rd., Bridgeton, 47836. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
