Elizabeth Evans will celebrate her 90th birthday Dec. 22. A luncheon will take place Dec. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Chaney's, hosted by the YMCA Tai Chi Class.

She was born and raised in the area, and has spent all but four years in Brazil.

Elizabeth, and husband Nelson, were married in 1941.

They had two children, Jim and Anne Evans, Indianapolis; and Susan and Chris Pell, Brazil; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth has been active in the YMCA Tai Chi program for six years, and still participates weekly. She said, "it is so enjoyable." Tai Chi is good for improving balance and helping to make you feel more secure getting around. Fern Reitmeyer, YMCA Tai Chi instructor, said that the exercise also helps improve the mind, helps to make you more calm, concentrate better, and gives you an overall positive attitude.

Elizabeth retired from Pell Roofing and Siding after 22 years. She is active in the Harmony United Methodist Church and is a member of the Thursday Afternoon Club.

Friends and family are invited to attend the luncheon.

90? She looks great! It is no greater blessing than to live a long healthy life. Happy Birthday, Elizabeth! May you have many more!
