Bulldogs show perimeter bite in win over Eels

DUGGER -- The Union Bulldogs shot the lights out from behind the arc, hitting 10 3-pointers against visiting Clay City on Friday night.

That marksmanship from long range, coupled with the the absence of Clay City senior, Will Kennedy, helped the Bulldogs edge the Eels, 46-45.

The Eels got off to a good start, leading 18-10 after one quarter, but the Bulldogs closed the gap to 28-25 at halftime.

In the second half, the Bulldogs were able to outscore the Eels by four to gain the victory, which went towards the Tri-River and Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference standings.

Blane Boyd knocked down four 3-pointers for the Bulldogs, B.J. Howard added three, Logan Chesterfield had two and Trent Collins hit one in the win.

Braxton Griffith had 14 points for the Eels, who also got 11 from Jordan Defore, eight from Levi Seymour and six from DJ Newton.

The Eels are off until next Friday when they travel to Bloomfield for a SWIAC contest.
