Those Christmas trees aren't up quite yet. At least in every Clay County household.
The Brazil Times recently asked online responders if they had already placed up their Christmas tree.
A total of 320 responded to the poll question, which had only two answers, including:
* Yes. I love the holidays, or
* No. We wait until after Thanksgiving.
A total of 252 responders (78.8 percent) said they wait until after Thanksgiving to start putting up the tree. Sixty-eight responders (21.3 percent), however, said they had already put up the tree before the holiday.
A total of 13 responders also commented on the poll question.
One said, "Of course I do! There is no rule stating that you must wait until after Thanksgiving to put up your tree," while another said, "I love putting up Christmas decorations that day after Thanksgiving. As a child, we did that and I love continuing this tradition as an adult."
Another responder stated, "When I was a kid, we put our tree up on Christmas Eve. I can't put it up too early or it takes the excitement out of the holiday for me," while another said, "It's a Christmas tree, not a Thanksgiving tree."
The current Times' online poll deals with Christmas. The Times is asking online responders, "What is your favorite part of Christmas?"
Responders have seven options to choose from, including:
* Putting up decorations,
* Spending time with family,
* Opening presents,
* Giving presents,
* Time off from work, or
As always, responders have the option of commenting on the poll.
