Strugging Pistons beat Pacers

Friday, December 12, 2008

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Richard Hamilton scored 28 points and Allen Iverson had 17 points and 12 assists as the slumping Detroit Pistons beat the Indiana Pacers 114-110 Friday night.

Indiana got a career-high 42 points from Danny Granger, but still lost its fifth straight.

Rodney Stuckey added a season-high 21 points and eight assists for Detroit, which had lost four of five. Antonio McDyess had 14 points in his second game since rejoining the team.

Both teams shot over 60 percent in a fast-paced first half, but the Pistons forced 12 turnovers on their way to a 63-57 halftime lead.

Detroit was up by as many as 11 in the third, and led 86-80 going into the fourth.

Granger, though, hit a jumper to tie the score at 88 with 8:39 left, and the teams traded the advantage down the stretch.

Rasheed Wallace, who hadn't scored in the first three quarters, gave the Pistons a 104-103 lead with 2:39 left, and Detroit followed up by forcing a 24-second violation at the other end.

After a free throw by Iverson and an Indiana miss, Hamilton's jumper put the Pistons ahead four.

Granger's 3-pointer pulled the Pacers within a point with 27 seconds to go, and Hamilton's missed free throw left Detroit with just a 112-110 lead with 8 seconds to go.

T.J. Ford, though, missed a short jumper over Tayshaun Prince, and Arron Afflalo clinched the game with a pair from the line.
