Jack Alan Riggs, 54, Camby, formerly of Brazil, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at his residence. He was born Nov. 3, 1954, in Clay County, the son of Jack Riggs and Carolyn Rosser Riggs.
Jack attended Perth Elementary in Clay County, and then graduated from Brazil High School. He extended his education with a Batchelor and Master's degree from Indiana State University. After graduating from I.S.U. he then attended classes at IUPUI earning a law degree. He was a member of the Indiana Bar Association and worked for the State of Indiana as a lead attorney with the Department of INDOT for 25 years.
Jack was an avid Colts fan. His love for all sports gave him direction to be the person to call for settling disputes over statistics. He was a sounding block for friends and family and a very devoted father.
Politics were also of special interest to Jack where he always had an opinion and a valid reason to back it up. Jack had a great love and appreciation for reading. His idol time was usually spent with a good book or in front of the television watching his favorite ball game also with his friends. The recent diagnosis of brain cancer did not stop his optimism for life. Jack Alan will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include his daughter Rebecca Riggs, Camby, his father Jack Riggs, Terre Haute, brother Gary Riggs, Rosedale, one half-sister Jackie Price. Other survivors include relatives Patty Cooper, Ernie Brenton and Donny Brenton. Several cousins, aunts and uncles also share in the loss.
He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother Stevie Riggs and one step-brother David Brenton.
Keeping with his wishes there are no services. Cremation is being handled by French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, IN. 47834.
