The Clay Community School Corporation principals and members of the administration met Thursday to discuss the finals schedule for area students.
If school is in session Friday, the regular class schedule will be in effect, but no final exams will be given.
All students are expected to be in attendance.
"We are preparing for the worst case scenario," Assistant Supt. of Curriculum Kim Tucker told The Brazil Times.
"We don't want students worrying about finals when the weather is like this."
If CCSC Supt. Dan Schroeder feels it is necessary to close schools Friday, students will be able to pick up textbooks to study for final exams on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, during school hours at the respective school buildings.
"Students need the opportunity to pick up their books and prepare for finals," Tucker said.
"Never fear, finals will go on," she added.
Finals have tentatively been rescheduled for students when returning Jan. 5, 2009:
* Elementary schools daily schedule will remain the same,
* North Clay Middle School, Jan. 5, final exams, first, third, fifth and seventh periods; Jan. 6, final exams second, fourth, sixth, and eight periods, and
* Northview High School and Clay City Junior/Senior High School, Jan. 5, final exams, first, second and third periods (two hour blocks); Jan. 6, final exams, fourth, fifth and sixth periods (two hour blocks).
Students at Northview High School and North Clay Middle School, will take final exams.
However, only those exam grades which would improve the student's grade status will be averaged into the final course grade.
Students that attend Clay City Junior/Senior High School will follow the current final exam waiver policy.
All students, even those with signed waivers at Clay City, are required to be in school Friday, if classes are not canceled.
