He was born March 1, 1957, in Paris, Ill., to Jack and Diana Payne Sims.
He was a member, treasurer and faithful choir member of the Peniel United Methodist Church, Brazil.
He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a degree in mortuary science. He was an avid gardener and was very fond of his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather, Mac Beason.
He is survived by his mother Diana Beason, life partner David Dowdy, sister Beth Daniels, brother Gary Sims and wife Diana, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m., Monday, at Peniel United Methodist Church, Brazil, with Rev. Richard Pippen officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. (1:30 CST), Monday, at Payne Cemetery, Brockton, Ill.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m., Sunday, at Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
