An investigation is ongoing into a single-vehicle accident Sunday morning that killed one person.
The names of the three victims were not released pending family notification.
However, officials with the Clay County Sheriff's Department confirmed the accident occurred around 4 a.m., Sunday.
According to investigating officer Deputy/K-9 Handler Brison Swearingen, a vehicle left the road in an area on County Road 800 North, just west of State Road 59, and rolled until it came to a stop in a nearby field.
The three unidentified people in the car were initially transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital, two of which were treated for undisclosed injuries and later released while the third was airlifted by LifeLine to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
The third victim died later Sunday.
Although details are limited, Swearingen told The Brazil Times speed is being considered a potential factor in the early stages of the investigation.
