Fort Harrison Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution honored the DAR Good Citizens from five area schools and their families at the December meeting.

Each student presented their essay and introduced their family members. Each was honored with a $100.00 Scholarship check, a certificate and a DAR Good Citizen pin presented by the Chapter Regent, Sharon Mattison.

The following senior students were chosen DAR Good Citizen by their school: Devin Ahern, Northview High School; Colleen Wiley, Clay City High School; Sarah Russell, Terre Haute North Vigo High School; Emily Brown, Terre Haute South Vigo High School; and Joel Modesitt, West Vigo High School.

Sarah Russell of Terre Haute North Vigo High School was chosen to represent Fort Harrison Chapter DAR in the state contest.

Each student's entry had been previously scored by three non-DAR judges with the decision based on the student's scholastic record, community service and the written essay. The contest was conducted by Diane Gaskin, chapter chairman.
