Lela Maxine Chatham, 79, Brazil, passed away Dec. 21, 2008, at St. Vincent's Hospice, Indianapolis, following a brief battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Center Point, to Terry and Vinnie (Boyce) Crafton.

She graduated from Bowling Green High School with the class of 1947.

Most recently, Lela worked for St. Vincent Clay Hospital as a dietary aide. She also worked in various positions for Clay Community Schools and Quaker Maid, Terre Haute.

She enjoyed working with crafts, tending flowers and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willard Wayne Chatham, grandson Alexander Fulk, siblings Warren Crafton, Norma Jean Crafton, Glen Crafton, Joan LeMay, Carol Montgomery, Ann Kroeger, Marie Crafton and Lloyd Crafton, and nephew Larry Chatham.

She is survived by daughters Linda Ray and Dave Parcus, Brazil, and Pamela Fulk and husband Michael, Center Point, son Clifford Chatham and Andrea Shephard, Brazil, grandchildren April Ray, Amber Gurley and husband Chris, Hobart, Ind., Alicia Ray, and Willard Wayne Chatham II, great-grandchildren Alexia Ray and Corbin Gurley, siblings Merle Crafton, Lewis Crafton, Terry Crafton Jr., Amy Chatham, Wanita West, and Judy Gard, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Paul Zurcher officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
