Amidst the hustle and bustle of last-minute shopping, people are still giving to those in need.

"Even with the strain on the economy, people are still giving to the less fortunate," Rose Harden said while ringing her bell for the Salvation Army outside of the Brazil Wal-Mart.

"Even now, when people are struggling, they are still donating what they can," Becky Johnson said. "It is truly beautiful to watch the smiles and listen to the wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."

Both women have been working the bells for about a year and they are still amazed with the amount that people can give.

"It is bitterly cold outside," Johnson with a smile, "but we are warmed by the generosity of the community."
