Last year, the family of Marsha and Travis Dowell welcomed their daughter, Sarah Jolene, to the world Jan. 3.

Sarah Jolene was Clay County's newest citizen as a result. She weighed 5 pounds and 6 quarter ounces while measuring just more than 18 inches. Putnam County Hospital Dr. Melissa Hatcher delivered the baby.

In just a few days, the search will be on for the county's newest citizen.

The Brazil Times welcomes everyone in the county to notify the newspaper of the first 2009 Clay County birth.

Tell us about the birth by calling 812-446-2216, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., or by e-mail at news@thebraziltimes.com.

My new year's baby will be turning 18 on the 3rd. That is when Clay Co still delivered babies here. She has been spoiled rotten every since. But, I am so very proud that she had sucha a great welcome into this crazy world.
