Monday, January 5, 2009

Samantha Whitaker and Jason Miller hold their son Preston Miller.
Clay County's 2009 New Years' Baby is home from the hospital.

Samantha Whitaker, 20, and Jason Miller, 25, welcomed their son, Preston Reece, into the world Saturday.

"Everyone is doing good," Jason said proudly. "We are very happy to have him. We feel complete."

Samantha's labor was induced Saturday, at 8:30 a.m., and her water broke around noon. Dr. Rizwan Malik delivered Preston at Union Hospital, Terre Haute at 6:28 p.m., weighing 8 pounds and 6 ounces he was 21 inches long.

"He has a good pair of lungs on him," Jason said with a laugh. "He has brown hair and big blue eyes that try to see everything.

Maternal grandparents are Steve Miller and Angie Whitaker, paternal grandparents Laurie and Richard Hill and Jerry Miller, Greencastle.

"It is very exciting," Laurie said. "Everyone is very happy to have the new addition to our family."

Jason is hoping that maybe in a few years they could add another addition to the family.

"I would kind of like a baby girl," he said.
