Monday, January 12, 2009

TERRE HAUTE -- The Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra has started rehearsals for its March 8 concert, "The Call of the Wild."

String musicians are needed to play violin, viola, cello and string bass. Positions are also available for oboe, piccolo and bassoon players.

Potential players are not required to audition, but should be comfortable playing music at a high school level.

The spring concert will take place at 3 p.m., March 8, at the Hippodrome Theatre of the Scottish Rite Building at 8th and Ohio streets, Terre Haute.

Rehearsals take place every Monday from 7-9 p.m., on the campus of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in the Music Conservatory Building.

Performers are expected to attend as many of the rehearsals as possible and are expected to attend the dress rehearsal at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 7.

Anyone with questions about performing with the Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra should contact music director Jim Chesterson at 812-535-6440 or 812-243-8120. Inquiries may also be directed to the website at www.terrehautecommunityband.org.
