Robert G. Adams, 87, Columbia, Ill., formerly of Brazil, died at 7:18 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in Columbia, Ill.

He was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Brazil, as the son of Grover C. and Helen M. Beers Adams.

Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, as a Chief Motor Machinist's Mate.

He was also a truck driver, the owner of Adams Tire and Battery and a shop foreman at Morris Trucking Company and Vigo White Trucking Company.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He attended the Community Missionary Church in Brazil prior to moving to Columbia, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Terry Adams, wife Virginia Adams and wife Betty A. Adams, and brother Russell E. Adams.

He is survived by daughter Ruth Andrews, Columbia, Ill., sons Allen Adams, Mooresville, and Walter Adams, Bourbonnais, Ill., grandchildren Gretta Bidwell and Rob Adams, both of brazil, Brenda Balding, Millstadt, Ill., Robert Andrews, St. Louis, Alice Adams, April Adams, Daniel Adams and Samantha Adams, all of Mooresville, Tanya Laminack, Belleville, Ill., Kayla Adams, O'Fallon, Ill., and Michael Adams, Swansea, Ill., and several other extended family members.

Visitation will be noon-2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Pastor Rick Wetnight officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizens of Clay County, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil.
