WEST LAFAYETTE -- Jodi Howell scored 17 points and Lakisha Freeman added 15 as Purdue defeated Penn State 59-48 on Thursday night.
Brittany Rayburn had 10 points and three steals, and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton had six points, 13 rebounds and four steals for the Boilermakers (12-5, 5-1 Big Ten), who have won four in a row.
Tyra Grant led Penn State with 20 points and Mashea Williams added 10 for the Nittany Lions (7-9, 2-4).
Purdue led 23-19 at halftime. Penn State scored just two points in the first eight minutes, and the teams combined for 15 field goals and 28 turnovers before the break.
Howell made back-to-back 3-pointers to give Purdue a 36-29 lead with just over 13 minutes to play. Penn State responded with an 8-0 run to take its first lead, but Purdue came back with a 14-3 run to put the game out of reach.
