UPDATE: Fourth suspect arrested

Friday, January 16, 2009

On Friday, Indiana State Police officials announced a fourth person was arrested in connection with the Jan. 14 home invasion in northwestern Clay County.

According to information provided by ISP, Christopher Charles Craft, 19, Rosedale, was arrested and charged with one count of Receiving or Possessing Stolen Property, a class D felony.

He is currently being held at the Clay County Justice Center with bond set at $7,000, no 10 percent.

ISP detectives are continuing to investigate the case and additional charges against others possibly involved could develop. Detectives are also sharing information with the Vigo County Sheriff's Department in relation to another home invasion, which took place the same evening in eastern Vigo County.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact ISP Det. Sam Stearley at 812-299-1153.

This story will be updated.

Who knows about the comments. I'm glad they got this guy. Hopefully they will all learn and there will be no plea bargains.

I was just thinking, I wonder if they can be charged (since Josh is an active "blood") with Participation in a criminal gang..?

I'm just curious about the comments also. I did not see anything in any of the comments that were compromising. The only disrespectful thing was a stupid comment made about a certain prison treatment they should receive and it should have been deleted.

Congrats and thanks to all the officers, no matter what department you are with, for your dedication to bringing all of these criminals in. I surely hope that in some small way this will give the young couple a little peace of mind.

I am pretty sure the comments on the other story (mine included) were deleted because a certain family member took offense to them. I could have put more info on there, but I just let it be. But, it was awful funny the things I wrote got shot down by her, but not the other info on the other peoples post. Makes you wonder about the whole history of this person.

Great job ISP!!! It is sad that people would do such a thing. I think the weather was so bad that the young couple probably were more trusting and willing to help. I pray that the family find some comfort knowing that their baby was not harmed. It could have turned out much worse.

The comments may have been shut off because there were a lot of people talking about sex with minors and other information that really wasn't on topic.

Although we have the right to comment, we still have to remember to stay on topic and not write anything compromising to others, the paper or law enforcements case.

Congrats to all the officers involved in working this case and my prayers to the young family and elderly woman involved in the nightmare these people have inflicted on them.

In all fairness I think public forums are the exact place to put out things about officials, etc. What is wrong with stating a responsible fact relative to that person, without malice, don't they want to be responsible to the people who put them where they are? No probably they do not, somehow positions of power are immune to criticism but its always front page if they do something good. These are opinions only, I think there are always going to be acceptions to the rule, but if you don't want to be held accountable, don't accept a public position and only show up to accept praise and duck accountability.

Are you referring to the victim or the suspects family member that got them deleted? I guess I missed the comments about sex with minors. Possibly there was just a problem with the site? Regardless, I am glad that these thugs are off the street.

Am I wrong, but is Craft originally from Brazil? The name just looks familiar

-- Posted by opininated on Fri, Jan 16, 2009, at 10:40 PM

Yes Craft is originally from Brazil and has been in trouble MANY times with the law. He needs to spend some time behind bars....

I was referring to the suspects ex. So, I guess it was family related. I am sure that the suspects sister is the one to find my comment offensive. I did not see anything on the comments about sex with minors, nor do I know if those comments were on that particular article or not. I just wonder if hatchead is right, it is awful funny that the person to take offense was a local business owner. But, yet she did not take offense to the comment about the ex taking money from her former employer to help establish a business for her boyfriend. And here she is a business owner herself. I only hope that no one does that to her.

Thank you for clarifying that. I am related to one of the victims and could not think of anyone that would try to have the comments stopped. I do not know any of the suspects so I am not familiar with who in thier families would have enough pull to have these deleted. I do find it interesting that not only did they delete all of the comments, but also the form from that page that makes it possible to post comments. I ented a post with the name of this 4th suspect before the paper did and thought possibly they didnt like being scooped. Maybe a little arrogance on my part. (humor)

PinkyB you aren't supposed to swallow the mouthwash. How many times has he been in jail? If I put a gun in your face and at your wife and baby I'm not a good person. He's lucky no one ened up dead.

-- Posted by guesswho? on Thu, Jan 22, 2009, at 10:19 AM

PinkyB I find your post a bit disturbing. How can you see anyone that breaks into a families home and uses physical harm and a gun to threaten a family a good person. If your a good person you know right from wrong. I don't know of any sane and good person that would do such a harmful and hateful thing.

-- Posted by hoosiertwins on Thu, Jan 22, 2009, at 3:32 PM

PinkyB's comments have been deleted, so I can only assume what was said from the others comments. I hope no one in your family is ever terrorized the way these kids were. I am afraid of what you deem a good person. These THUGS are 19 to 23 years of age and it is a shame that they have fallen so early in life. Hopefully they will get a prison sentence that will give them a lot of time to think about being "good" vs. "bad"
