Carbon on boil order until further notice

Monday, January 19, 2009

Residents in the town of Carbon are under a boil advisory until further notice.

Officials with Carbon Water Works announced the boil order earlier Monday in direct connection with water problems that surfaced during the weekend.

"They've been looking for this leak for a day or two," Carbon Water Works operator Jake Raubuch said. "It was hard and difficult to locate, especially in this kind of weather."

Raubuch told The Brazil Times that a 2-inch water line broke and the town lost use of its water tower.

He said pressure was dropped in the system and when it drops below 20 psi, the state requires towns to issue boil orders.

Raubuch said water tests were being conducted today and will be taken to Indianapolis Tuesday for further testing. He expected an answer back regarding the tests by Wednesday.

Like that's anything new, I guess it's better than not having any water at all. What a choice we have as city water customers, either boil your water or no water. It makes you wonder....HHmmmm!
