Although no snow fell during the weekend, emergency response personnel were kept busy with a couple of allegedly alcohol related accidents.
Shortly after 2 a.m., Saturday, 911 dispatchers at the Clay County Justice Center received a report of an accident involving an inverted vehicle near County Road 1000 North and Kennedy's Crossing.
According to information provided by the Clay County Sheriff's Department, the unidentified driver of the vehicle was allegedly able to crawl out. However, due to the serious nature of the accident, medical personnel from TransCare were contacted to check the victim for injuries. None were reported.
Around 1:30 a.m., Sunday, emergency response personnel worked another early morning accident when a vehicle left the eastbound lane of Interstate-70 in an area in between the 18- and 19-mile markers and struck a tree in.
Members of Posey and Jackson Township volunteer fire departments, Clay County Search and Rescue and TransCare responded to the scene.
No injuries were reported.
However, on Monday, officials confirmed arrangements were made for both of the drivers to undergo alcohol testing. Further information was unavailable as of press time.
