He was born in Coxville, Ind., on Nov. 23, 1926, to Frank and Floa (Cox) Nevins.
Mr. Nevins worked for 20 years at Natco in Brazil as well as 20 years at Alcan in Terre Haute. He also farmed in the Clay County area, retiring from farming and Alcan in 1988.
He married Evelyn Funk on Sept. 2, 1977.
Ross was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brazil for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles, woodworking and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marion Nevins, Lester Nevins, Richard Nevins, Eugene Nveins, James Nevins and Frank Nevins Jr.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn, sons Randy Nevins and wife Jacqulyn, Brazil, and Rickie Nevins and wife Nancy, rural Parke County, daughter Donna Williams and husband Tim, South Bend, stepson Joseph Church and wife Melanie, Brazil, grandchildren Kenny Nevins and wife Jody, Kori Nevins, Shannon Sampson, Shelly Atkinson and husband D.J., Doug Nevins, Erica Thompson, Nichole Williams, step-granddaughter Miranda Church and step-grandson Chad Bradshaw, great-grandchildren Trent Nevins, Madison Nevins, Braden Nevins, Whitney Sampson, Justin Sampson, Dalton Atkinson, Hunter Atkinson, Parker Atkinson and Cooper Atkinson, sister Marjorie Anderson, brother William Nevins, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Services for Mr. Nevins will be at French Funeral Home, Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Pastors Robert Sampson and Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Friday, from 4-8 p.m.
