The State Road 59 improvement project is set back into motion.
John Wetzel, the project engineer for Midwest Engineers came to the Clay City Town board with some good news.
"The reimbursement agreement for relocation of the water main has come in," he said. "It's a few months later than expected, but I'm thinking that maybe we could open the bids in late March or early April."
Though the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) would like to have construction complete on the main before they begin work in May, Wetzel said that it is unlikely.
"With the amount of time it has taken to have the reimbursement agreement approved and sent back we will be starting construction when INDOT is, not before," he said. "I hope to have the final plans at the next council meeting."
The council voted 3-0 for Wetzel to go ahead with the final plans and prepare to open bids for construction.
Meanwhile sewage was also a topic of discussion at the board meeting.
Adjustments were made to bills of residents as well as business owners who have had water problems this winter, with pipes bursting or unforeseen leaks.
The board voted 3-0 to go ahead and make the adjustments to the bills.
