NHS band boosters to have chicken noodle dinner Sunday

Monday, February 9, 2009

The Northview High School Band Boosters will conduct their 21st Chicken Noodle Dinner and Pops Concert Sunday at the high school.

Serving will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The menu will consist of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw or applesauce, rolls and a dessert.

Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children.

The Northview High School and North Clay Middle School bands and jazz bands will perform at 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., in the high school auditorium.

Local musician Norm Hanson will perform as a featured soloist at both concerts. He will perform "All Those Enduring Young Charms," and "Carnival of Venice," and will be featured on a combo version of "Lassus Trombone."

Hanson is the band director at North Central High School and is a member of the Terre Haute Symphony and the Brazil Concert Band.

Both school bands will perform several songs, including a salute to the Armed Forces and a medley of swing classics, including "In The Mood," "Shake, Rattle and Roll," and "At The Hop."

In addition, the NHS Winter Guard, Cadet Corps and Percussion Ensemble will perform at 1:30 p.m., in the high school gymnasium. The Percussion Ensemble will perform "Junk Yard Jam."

All proceeds from the event will go to help the band boosters fund year-round programs.
