Ronald Malcom Thompson, 67, Brazil, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 24, 1941, in Harmony, as the son of Edward and Anise Bullerdick Thompson.

Following graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War.

Following his return from Vietnam, he served in the Indiana National Guard until his honorable discharge. He was employed in concrete construction as a heavy equipment operator and working for area companies, including Townsend Tree Service and Clay Community School Corporation.

He married Betty Cornwell March 27, 1972, in Paris, Ill. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed watching football on television.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Evans, brother Keith Thompson and granddaughter Melanie Bemis.

He is survived by wife Betty, sister Jean SanQuenetti, Brazil, brother Max Thompson, stepsons Larry Fox and Doug Fox, stepdaughter Lynn Sanders, grandchildren Aaron Fox and wife Amber, Amanda Barnett and husband Greg, Ryan and Annie Sanders, Christopher Fox, Seth Bemis, Samantha Fox, Jessica Fox, Michael Rains, Matthew Rains and Jeremy Rains, great-grandchildren Lexie Barnett, Hanna Barnett, Kyia Fox, Diante, Myia, Devin and Ryan Wayne II Harper, and Damien Fox, and several nieces and nephews.

At the request of the deceased, his body will be cremated and a memorial service scheduled at a later date at Clearview Cemetery.
