School club meets with Rotary
The Brazil Rotary Club's speaker program Feb. 11 featured students from Terre Haute North High School's Interact Club.
President Amanda Metternich, Community Service Chair Emily Price and Secretary Abby Colwell visited Brazil to discuss what Interact does and how it works in conjunction with Terre Haute's Rotary.
Brazil Rotary President and Secretary Rob Dispennett and Dr. Miranda Goodale recently began steps to create an Interact Club at Northview High School and invited the trio to discuss the club's activities.
Colwell's father, Bart Colwell, is a past president of the Brazil Rotary Club.
She said it was "neat" to meet some of her father's old club friends and the "nice yellow shirt people" who put on the annual Fourth of July celebration with him.
Interact was founded by Rotary International as a service club for young people ages 14-18, to accomplish projects that will further international understanding and goodwill.
With more than 10,700 clubs in 109 countries and geographical areas, Interact has become a worldwide phenomenon.
Nearly 200,000 young people are involved in Interact.
