TERRE HAUTE -- Big Brothers/Big Sisters annual fundraiser, Bowl For Kids Sake, has space remaining in several of the bowling sessions scheduled for March at Terre Haute Bowling Center.
The annual fundraising event supporting youth mentoring in Vigo, Vermillion, Sullivan, Parke and Clay counties in Indiana and Clark County in Illinois is the largest fundraiser sponsored by Big Brothers/Big Sisters and supports more than 300 one-on-one matches in both community and school programs throughout the counties served.
It's easy and fun to become part of the event. Simply form a team of four or five friends, family or co-workers and register a choice of the seven sessions offered. Team members raise pledges in support of one-on-one mentoring and receive two free games of bowling and shoe rental as well as being eligible for great prizes donated by area merchants. Any individual who raises $35 will receive a free Bowl For Kids Sake T-shirt and bowlers raising $75 or more receive the T-shirt and a sweatshirt as well as an entry for grand prize drawings such as tickets to a Verizon Wireless concert and dinner at Stables Steakhouse.
The team captain who recruits the most teams will win a special gift basket compliment of Cheeseburger in Paradise and the individual who raises the most money receives two free round trip air tickets to anywhere in the continental United States, compliments of Travel Leaders.
A pre-event session was hosted by Unison Engine Components employees Feb. 21, with more than 90 bowlers participating.
Other sessions available for teams to select are Monday, march 2, from 9-11 p.m. (College Night) or Saturday, March 7 (sessions from noon-2 p.m., 2-4 p.m., and the Glow Bowling session from 11 p.m.-1 a.m.
