He was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Vigo County, as the son of Arthur and Maggie Sinclare Callahan. He had been employed until his retirement with Penn Central and Conrail railroad operations.
He was a member of the Eastside Christian Church, where he had been a Sunday school teacher and long-time elder. He had also been a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge.
He was married to Barbara Joan Higginbotham on Oct. 17, 1981.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bob, Denver and Kenneth Callahan and sister Hazel Price.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Joan Callahan, children David C. Callahan (Bonnie), Linda A. Harms (Ron) and Timothy C. Callahan (Tammy), grandchildren Dava Boor, Russell Harms, Ryan Callahan, Troye Callahan, Shauna Crowley, Joshua Callahan, Stephanie Roberts, Jenna Callahan, Melinda Meunier, Molly Schopmeyer, and Melanie McIlrath, step-children Cheryl Rudisel, James Black, Terry Black, Greg Black and Debra Willmouth, and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
