THE BEST OF THYMES HERB CLUB

Nineteen members of The Best of Thymes Herb Club met on a wet winter evening Feb. 26 at the home of Ruth Timm. Charlene Miller gave the table grace. Everyone enjoyed the carry-in food and conversation before the meeting.

President Peggy Potts passed around a sign-up sheet for future meetings, and also asked members to choose a flower and give reports at later meetings.

Membership dues should be paid at the March meeting.

Peggy read "The Stress Diet" from the Columbus (Ind.) Herb Society cookbook. She also talked about Hellebore, also known as Lenten Rose or Christmas Rose. The perennial blooms in late winter and early spring. She passed around a magazine featuring plant pictures and information.

Sue Thompson brought extra seed and flower catalogs for interested members.

The ladies viewed a DVD featuring the Cathedral Gardens , located at Henryville, and a video tape of Ruth Stout's Garden.

Upcoming area garden seminars and shows include: Morgan County Master Gardeners Garden Fest and Pansy Sale, 3 to 8 p.m., March 20, Indiana National Guard Armory, Wabash Valley Master Gardeners Association, Inc.'s Spring Seminar, beginning at 8 a.m. March 28 at Union Christian Church Family Life Center, Terre Haute, April 4, Spring Garden Show, sponsored by Hendricks Co. Master Gardeners Program, Hendricks County Fairgrounds, April 18, Earth Day, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, and Spring Thyme Plant and Herb Faire, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 9, Fairbanks Park, Terre Haute,

Door prizes were won by Pat Deakins, Jean Rowings and Beth Meuser. Ruth received a hostess gift.

Others attending the get-together were Roxanna Cunningham, Carol Swearingen, Pat Krider, Jean Alsip, Karen Staub, Sipriana Bussing, Pat Wilkinson, Rose Marie Weber, Carolyn Trout, Jeanne McMichael, Sindy Phillips and Jean Hull.

The next meeting will begin at 6 p.m., March 26 at the home of Jean Rowings. Johna Lumsdon will give the program.

Tri Kappa's Annual Fundraiser and Silent Auction with a Luau Dance will be Saturday, March 7, at the Elks Club

Tickets are $20 a person, includes party favor, dinner, and dancing to "Just Us" band. Dress is casual
