Eugene Anthony LaTrenta Jr., also affectionately know as "Gene," "Geno" and "Butch," 50, Brazil, died at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at JFK Hospital, West Palm Beach, Fla., from pneumonia. He was born in Lodi, N.J., Jan. 17, 1959.
He was previously employed in the sales field and most recently at the House of Hope.
He also served as a Christian Counselor for the House of Hope.
Survivors include his loving wife, Karen Alison LaTrenta, whom he married on Sept. 15, 2001, his step-daughters, Katrina Marie Cotto and Christina Renee Cotto, a step-grandson, Jordan Anthony Vaughn and a special cousin, Pete LaTrenta, whom all reside in Brazil, along with a host of family and friends.
He was a member of the House of Hope, a Christian Rehabilitation Center, which provides counseling for alcohol and drug addictions. He enjoyed helping people, enjoyed coaching basketball at the Brazil YMCA and being around his family.
Burial was held Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at 10 a.m., at Santangelo Funeral Home, Lodi, N.J.
If friends so desire, the family suggests donations be made to the house of Hope, Brazil.
