Times' Relay For Life team sets up county cookie contest

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Do you bake the best chocolate chip cookies? If so, The Brazil Times American Cancer Society's 2009 Clay County Relay For Life team is looking for you.

The Times' Relay team, the "Clark Kent Super Group," is sponsoring Clay County's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest.

We are challenging all local residents to hit the cookbooks for those secret family recipes, or create a new delectable version of an old classic, and bake the best chocolate chip cookie in the county.

Businesses are also encouraged to participate as well, but will be judged in a separate category.

Entry fees will be $5 for Clay County residents and $10 for businesses in the county. All proceeds will be used to support Relay For Life.

On April 3, bake one dozen cookies for judging purposes and bring them to The Times office between 1-2 p.m. Official judging will begin at 2:30 p.m.

We will ask a few public officials and The Brazil Times Relay Team to judge the cookies, unless they have entered their own recipes of course.

The winner will receive $25, a three-month subscription, their picture in paper and bragging rights for baking The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies in Clay County.

The upcoming 12-hour Relay For Life event will take place at the Clay County YMCA during (6 p.m.-6 a.m.) May 8-9, 2009.
