Celesta Sue Phillips, 59, Knightsville, died March 25, 2009, at 10:51 a.m., at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 10 1950, to Raymond and Juanita (St. John) Rodgers.
She graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1968.
Celesta married Alan Phillips July 24, 1970, at the Knightsville Methodist Church.
Following high school, she worked for Glascol Appartus Company in Terre Haute for several years. Following the birth of her son Shawn, she stayed home to care for her family.
She also worked as a newspaper carrier for the Tribune Star in the Clay County area. She spent most of her free time with her family. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, James Dean movies and Elvis Presley music.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Juanita, father-in-law Charles Phillips, brother-in-law Wayne Hayes, sister-in-law Linda Phillips.
Survivors include her husband Alan Phillips, Knightsville, son Shawn Phillips, Knightsville, brother John Rodgers and wife Kim, Brazil, mother-in-law Margaret Phillips, sisters-in-law Sandra Hayes, Staunton, and Marilyn Wood and husband Sonny, Greencastle, brother-in-law Melvin Phillips and wife B.J., Brazil, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Services for Mrs. Philips will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel and Crematory Monday, March 30, 2009, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
