Harmony Happenings

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

There are three Easter Egg Hunts in the near vicinity, probably more, on Saturday, April 11. Forest Park in Brazil and Fairbanks Park in Terre Haute have them scheduled for 10 a.m. At Fairbanks, the kids collect the eggs and then turn them in for candy and prizes. The age groups are separated for safety. It is sponsored by the Celebration Christian Center. All kids are welcome.

Harmony United Methodist will have an Easter Egg Hunt at Harmony Park on that Saturday but it will start at 2 p.m. in the afternoon. It is always an enjoyable afternoon for the little ones.

French and Lawson-Miller Funeral Chapels are having their hunts this Sunday, April 5 at 1 p.m. The grand prizes are a wagon (up to age 4 group), bicycle (ages 5-8), and an Ipod Nano for ages 9-12.

Happy Birthday to Mister Dayden Green. He will turn a whopping three this Saturday. Parents David and Jodi are having the family over to celebrate with the Big Guy. Older brother Jayden is sure to enjoy the day, too.

Silver Sneakers is sponsoring a Spring Fling at the YMCA this Saturday, April 4 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. What is a spring fling? Arlene Meyers says they are going to have music, dancing, snacks and just good old socializing. Milo Miller will be the D.J. Singles are welcome. Couples are welcome. The $5 charge covers admission and snacks. Cheap thrills, folks! Where else can you get a good evening of entertainment and fun for 5 dollars?

The Aril 4 Methodist Men's Breakfast will be at Union United Methodist. All men are welcome to attend. It starts at 8 a.m.

Harmony United Methodist Fellowship Hall was the site of the Methodist Women's Meeting last Monday evening. Lila Waugh from Memorial United Methodist was the featured speaker. She is the Education and Interpretation Chairperson for her church and also for the district. She gave us very valuable information and answered many of our questions about meeting our Mission Today goals.

President Sheila Termeer and her mother Mayme Cox were the co-hostesses for the HUMW meeting. They served a delicious supper for us and awarded two door prizes. I was lucky to win one and Barbara Pell got the other pretty springy basket filled with goodies.

Mayme (Johnson) Cox had surprised us by returning home from Arizona a little early. She wasn't expected until near her birthday on April 7. She and husband Jim had surprised everyone. The family didn't even know they were headed home from their winter stay in the warm desert. Mayme spread out hundreds of pictures of their wonderful trip.

Lena and Harmony alternate some of the special services at this time of year. Lena will host the Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 12. Harmony United Methodist will have Maundy Thursday on April 9.

Harmony Town Council will meet at the Harmony Community Center on Tuesday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m.
