TERRE HAUTE -- The Clay City softball team hit the ground running on Saturday at the Terre Haute Bash, playing three games under warm sunny skies.

The Eels dropped their first game against the host Braves before bouncing back to take the final two games of the afternoon to even their season mark at 2-2 overall.

In the opener, South scored single runs in each of the first three innings and that number held up on the way to a 5-1 Braves win.

Ciara Hall had three stolen bases for the Braves and scored twice while Macy Toon drove in a run.

Clay City struggled on defense, committing five errors in the game and only were able to muster three hits off the Braves Marissa Stout.

The Eels scored their lone run in the seventh inning, but weren't able to add to the total.

On offense, Tasha Collenbaugh had a double while Abby Reed and Shelby Targett each had singles.

The Eels got untracked to earn their first win of the year in the middle game, pounding out 10 hits and scoring 14 runs while shutting out Union (Dugger).

Collenbaugh got the win in the circle and drove in a pair of runs with a double and a single. Shaya Stevenson added a single, scored once and stole a base while Allie Souder tallied a single and scored three times. Madison Sullivan scored two times and Carly Jackson added a run scored as well.
