Area juveniles in custody

Monday, April 6, 2009

Three Clay County juveniles are in custody on allegations of being involved in a "burglary ring" after local authorities followed up a tip Friday evening.

Although details are sketchy due to the ongoing investigation by Brazil City Police and the Clay County Sheriff's departments, officials confirmed to The Brazil Times Monday afternoon three male juveniles, ages 16-17, are being held at an undisclosed juvenile detention facility awaiting formal court appearances and charging in juvenile proceedings in Clay Circuit Court.

Due to privacy laws, further information about the suspects cannot be made available.

BCPD Det. Clint McQueen said authorities were provided information by an unidentified resident about the location of possible stolen property from several burglaries during the past few months late Friday.

"The investigation into this alleged burglary ring has developed strong evidence there are connections to burglaries in other parts of Clay County," McQueen said.

Acting quickly, officials were able to recover stolen electronics at an undisclosed residence during a voluntary search Friday.

"This was a team effort by both departments," McQueen said, adding the case file would soon be delivered to the Clay County Prosecutor's Office for review. "It should result in multiple charges being filed in this case."

McQueen said burglary or theft victims, whether in Brazil or in Clay County, need to contact local law enforcement agencies with the details.

"We encourage people to report thefts and burglaries as soon as possible," McQueen said. "This information, even if it appears to be trivial on the surface, helps investigators track crimes in neighborhoods."

To provide information about this case or report a burglary or theft, contact the Brazil City Police Department at 446-2211 or the Clay County Sheriff's Department at 446-2535.

I wish all you other posters would quit antagonizing Krystal. If you run her off here I will have nothing to laugh about. By the way Krystal. I don't know you, don't know your age, don't know where you live, don't know how many kids you have (if any, too many), where you go to school and I don't care. But, if you do go to school anywhere; please take a spelling class.
